Delhi’s hegemonic designs nuclearise Indian Ocean

KARACHI: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Monday said in pursuance of its hegemonic designs, India had nuclearised the Indian Ocean and continued to induct advanced weapon systems and naval delivery platforms. He said this while addressing the International Maritime Conference titled “Development of Blue Economy under a Secure and Sustainable Environment”.
Qureshi said Pakistan will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure its security and to maintain credible minimum deterrence.
He said the Indian Ocean was the world s third-largest water body and while retaining its significance for the global security, it represented an increasingly important avenue for global trade.

Experts shed light on maritime security and growth opportunities in region
The 9th Inte¬rnational Maritime Conference (IMC) 2021, being organised by the National Institute of Maritime Affairs under the aegis of Pakistan Navy, and conducted in tandem with the 7th Multinational Maritime Exercise Aman-2021, reached its second day on Sunday.
The conference themed on ‘Development of Blue Economy under a Secure and Sustainable Environment: A Shared Future for Western Indian Ocean Region’ featured more eminent international and national scholars who elucidated a variety of issues pertaining to maritime security, the environment and relevant growth opportunities in the region.
Like the previous day, the second day of the conference was also divided into three sessions. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Security Dr Moeed Yusuf graced the first session as the chief guest. KARACHI: It was time to enjoy some music played by international bands as part of the harbour phase of Pakistan Navy’s multinational Aman Exercise-2021. Alongside the music event, a rifle drill and a maritime counter-terrorism demonstration were held at PNS Qasim, Manora, on Sunday.
Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Nadeem Raza was chief guest on the occasion. He appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Navy in conducting the multinational maritime exercise in a befitting manner.
The impressive band display by the participating navies of Aman ’21 was like connecting all these countries through culture. The military bands from Sri Lanka, three services of Pakistan, Sindh Rangers and Coast Guard played traditional and military tunes. They were all appreciated by the audience.
