McKee administration has own concerns about state hospital eligibility for Medicaid

PROVIDENCE The McKee administration has now raised its own questions about how much the state can legitimately bill Medicaid for patients at the state-run Eleanor Slater Hospital. The state has not officially suspended billing for federal Medicaid reimbursement, but McKee spokesman Matt Sheaff on Wednesday reported this latest wrinkle in the on-going saga: As ESH processed Medicaid billing for the months of April, May and June 2020, staff raised questions regarding the eligibility of certain expenses.   To ensure the accuracy of bills submitted for Medicaid reimbursement, Sheaff said, the Executive Office of Health & Human Services will retain an outside, independent clinical review of patient medical records.

From USA TODAY Network and wire reports Alabama Montgomery: State lawmakers have inched closer to approving a ban on so-called vaccine passports that would require proof of COVID-19 vaccination to access services from a business or state agency. The House Health Committee voted Wednesday to send the bill to House of Representatives for a vote. It has already cleared the Senate. The bill contains a number of exceptions. Surgeons, dentists, medical institutions, hospitals and other health care providers are exempted. Universities could still require students to receive a vaccine; however, there would be exceptions for vaccines approved for “emergency use” by the FDA, as is the case with all three COVID-19 vaccines given in the United States thus far. County invites vaccine appointments for tomorrow Yamhill County Public Health is having a vaccine clinic tomorrow and there are still appointments available. Event Vaccine:  Pfizer vaccine first dose (second doses will be scheduled when people get their first) Eligibility: Anyone 16 years old and older Cost: The vaccine is free. If they have insurance we would like to collect that information for billing. No one will be turned away for lack of ID or insurance and no one will be charged any out of pocket cost not covered by insurance.      We have been working with school partners and our Developmental Disability program to schedule age eligible students and their families over this last week and yesterday released the link through Get Vaccinated Oregon (GVO) to those aged 16 and 17 who were registered.
