Opposition boycotts Parliament over covid19 fears

LEADER of the Opposition Kamla Persad-Bissessar led her MPs to boycott of Friday’s sitting of the House of Representatives over fears of covid19 following the Prime Minister’s recent positive diagnosis, and fears that MPs could become super-spreaders of the virus. However, House Leader Camille Robinson-Regis accused the Opposition of playing politics as she claimed parliamentary protocols in the pandemic meant MPs faced very little risk of infection.
Robinson-Regis: Macqueripe ready to reopen

AFTER WEEKS of renovations, Macqueripe Beach is now ready to reopen to the public.
Minister of Planning Camille Robinson-Regis made the announcement on Wednesday after inspecting work done at the beach.
“I came to just make sure that we were ready and the general manager (of the Chaguaramas Development Authority) did ask me if I felt comfortable enough that we can open for tomorrow, and I do.”

Planning and Development Minister Camille Robinson Regis is on sick leave for six weeks from January 14 while she recovers from gallbladder surgery.
A release from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) on Friday evening said she was resting at home comfortably.
“Minister Robinson-Regis is in good spirits and has asked this office to convey her gratitude to all who sent fond and caring wishes for her recovery and return to full health.”
