An essential milestone is the achievement of error-corrected logical qubits that genuinely benefit from error correction, outperforming simple physical qubits. Although tremendous efforts have been devoted to demonstrate quantum error correcting codes with different quantum hardware, previous realizations are limited to be against certain types of errors or to prepare special logical states. It remains one of the greatest and also notoriously difficult challenges to realize a universal quantum error correcting code for more than a decade.

Two new genes linked to Alzheimer s disease discovered

They identified them by exploring which genes were turned on and off in the hippocampus of people who suffered from the disease. The team s new findings are published February 25th in PLOS Genetics. Alzheimer s disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that involves worsening dementia and the formation of protein plaques and tangles in the brain. The hippocampus, part of the brain involved in memory, is one of the first regions to sustain damage. To better understand which genes contribute to the progression of this heritabl

Studies from Northeast Electric Power University Describe New Findings in Industrial Informatics (Stochastic Optimal Energy Management and Pricing for Load Serving Entity With Aggregated Tcls of Smart Buildings: a Stackelberg Game Approach)

130 views Information Technology Daily 2021 FEB 25 (NewsRx) By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Information Technology Daily Data detailed on Information Technology - Industrial Informatics have been presented. According to news reporting originating from Jilin, People’s Republic of China, by NewsRx correspondents, research stated, “With the development of demand-side management in the smart grid, load-serving entity (LSE) plays a more important role for consumers, which purchases energy from the electricity market and sells it to consumers. Moreover, aggregated thermostatically controlled loads (TCLs) in smart buildings can provide additional demand response capacities and require efficient energy management methods.” Funders for this research include National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), National Key Research and Development Program of China.

Megadroughts in arid central Asia delayed the cultural exchange along the proto-Silk Road

E-Mail IMAGE: Historical Silk Road trade routes are illustrated in red, and the white star marks the studied cave in Central Asia view more  Credit: @Science China Press The Silk Road was the most elaborate network of trade routes in the ancient world, linking ancient populations in East Asia to those in southwest Asia, via Central Asia. These trade routes fostered the spread of ideas, religions, and technologies over the past 2,000 years. Before the establishment of organized exchange, starting around the time of the Chinese Han Dynasty (2,223 years ago), a process of trans-Eurasian exchange was already underway through the river valleys and oases of Central Asia. The establishment of populations in the oases of the Taklimakan Desert in Xinjiang, China, was a major factor facilitating this trans-Eurasian exchange. However, archaeological evidence for human occupation in these arid regions as well as long-distance diffusion of cultural material is largely lacking prior
