Poverty is a complex issue in the United States. One that is rooted in the brutal history of slavery, lynching, rape, segregation and miseducation. Despite so many obstacles, we are here! When our ancestors acquired land and built wealthy communities, the haters burned them down. This has happened all over America, including Black Wall Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Rosewood, Florida; Charleston, South Carolina; and New Orleans, Louisiana.
