Walsh appoints Michael Dunphy vice president for academic affairs
Michael Dunphy has been appointed vice president for academic affairs for Walsh University, according to a news release. Dunphy has served the university as interim vice president for academic affairs since June.
An alumnus of Walsh, Dunphy has served the Walsh community since 1981, first as a part-time faculty member, then in 1985 as full-time faculty in biochemistry, as division chair of mathematics and sciences from 1990 to 2016 and as dean of the School of Arts and Sciences from 2016 to 2020. Dunphy continues to teach chemistry courses and conduct research while attending to his administrative responsibilities.
Mount Union student to moderate election discussion

ALLIANCE University of Mount Union has announced a virtual panel discussion with state and local election officials at 11:15 a.m. March 25.
The event, titled “Voting Today: Changes and Challenges” will be a discussion featuring Regine Johnson, deputy director of the Stark County Board of Elections; Joyce Kale-Pesta, director of the Mahoning County Board of Elections; Kim Fusco, director of the Columbiana County Board of Elections; and Merle Madrid, the chief of staff to Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose.
The panel will be moderated by Mount Union student Sky McCloskey, a political science major from Vienna, Ohio.

Charleston, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Eastern Illinois University was one of less than 250 colleges and universities nationwide designated as a Voter Friendly Campus by the Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education (NASPA) and the Fair Election Center’s Campus Vote Project.
According to Campus Vote Project announcement, EIU was recognized as one of the 234 colleges and universities across 37 states and the District of Columbia for “engag[ing] their campus communities and promot[ing] voter registration and voting as part of their institutional mission.” The goal of the Voter Friendly Campus designation program is to bolster efforts that help students overcome barriers to participating in the political process, and to develop a culture of democratic engagement on campus.
