A Tauranga business once worth $3 million will be valued at basically nothing when the council starts kerbside waste collections, its owner says. Kleana Bins operator John Cruickshank said he would be left without his retirement fund and with more than 8000 useless bins.

Western Bay of Plenty District Council is asking the Katikati community for any groups that may wish to develop a purpose-built space at 33 Middlebrook Drive.
Council has owned the 2587m2 section since 2013 with 587m2 currently occupied by New Zealand Red Cross.

A resident who is opposed to an application to establish an Ōmokoroa Town Centre in her neighbourhood says she would sell up if she could. Resource consent is being sought by Jace Investment Limited for a $75 million commercial and residential hub at 404 Ōmokoroa Rd.

The Long Term Plan sets the budget, forecasts future rate levels and details key projects for the next 10 years.
It also forecasts a 30-year strategy for infrastructure investment to provide for the District’s population growth, legislative change, climate change and economic growth.
Western Bay Mayor Garry Webber says the Western Bay remains one of the fastest growing districts in New Zealand.
While this growth is positive for the local economy and delivers social and cultural benefits, the 10-year plan must enable the District to continue to be a great place to live.
This year’s consultation document has been developed from a community engagement campaign last year that included workshops, online engagement and written submissions.
