Maritime Shorts Island sailing program   SOUTHWEST HARBOR The MDI Community Sailing Center still has some spaces open in its youth summer day camp programs and a new scholarship has been created for a beginners sailing class this season.   The new scholarship comes from the generosity of the Nemo Fund and will go to offer an afternoon intro to sailing program for ages 12 and up.   All year–round MDI youth who enroll in the program will only pay 25 percent of the weekly fee.   For more information on registration and the Nemo Scholarship, contact the MDI Community Sailing center at [email protected] or (207) 244-7905.

Environmental education, fun at the S E A Fair

Fair in the Amphitheatre. This will be an opportunity for the public to come out and meet representatives from sixteen local nonprofits that support responsible stewardship of the environment.  This family-friendly event will offer activities including a mobile marine tank, story time with librarian Miss Amy, drawings for free sailing trips and other great prizes from local businesses, and much more.            Organizations with booths include: Coastal Mountains Land Trust, Gulf of Maine Research Institute, Herring Gut Learning Center, Hurricane Island Center for Science & Leadership, Knox-Lincoln County Soil & Water Conservation District, Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries, Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservati
