Pinellas County set to begin COVID-19 vaccinations in nursing homes

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Florida’s nursing homes were some of the first in the country to get the COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday, with at least a dozen visited in Pinellas County.
The Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County offered nearly 2,000 Pfizer vaccines to long-term care facilities Wednesday out of their stock of about 10,700 doses.
“We re visiting 13 facilities today. Our goal was to offer over 1900 vaccines,” said Dr. Ulyee Choe, the director at FDOH in Pinellas County.
Carrington Place in St. Petersburg was among the first places offered the shot to those who wanted one.
