So, I’m reading about the cop who shot Daunte Wright in Minnesota on Sunday and the police chief who defended her deadly mistake, and I’m wondering if there has ever been a time in the history of law enforcement when an officer grabbed his Taser by accident when he meant to pull his gun.
Kim Potter’s weapon was still warm when stories started appearing online about all the other cops across the country who had apparently made the same mistake as Potter and fired the kill gun instead of the stun gun.
She will face charges of second degree manslaughter for shooting the 20-year-old suburban Minneapolis man.

Daunte Wright, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension confirmed Wednesday (April 14).
Potter, 48, a 26-year veteran of the department was arreested and taken into custody late Wednesday morning, a BCA statement said. She was booked into the Hennepin County Jail after consultation with Washington County Attorney

The charges will be filed in Washington County later Wednesday against Potter, who fatally wounded Wright, 20. She resigned from the department on Tuesday, along with Chief

Within an hour of each other, charging decisions in two lethal police shootings were announced with strikingly different conclusions. The decisions reached in the shootings of Daunte Wright in Minnesota and Ashli Babbitt in Washington highlight concerns over the political and legal elements that can influence such decisions. The timing of the two decisions that involved two chaotic situations raises questions why charges were filed in Minnesota, but not in Washington.
