Eight new COVID-19 cases added from Parry Sound Friday

Eight new cases of COVID-19 were reported from the District of Parry Sound today(Friday).
The health unit also added two recoveries placing Parry Sound at 25 active cases with no hospitalizations.
No change was made to Nipissing’s case count on Friday keeping that district at three active cases including one in hospital.
About 100 tests for COVID-19 were done in Parry Sound alone and another 600 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine were given district-wide on the last day.
As of this afternoon, 45 percent of adults in the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit’s region have received at least one shot of a vaccine.

Canada should be doing a better job in obtaining the COVID-19 vaccines, a member of North Bay council argues.
Coun. Mac Bain told members of council Tuesday that he was not criticizing the efforts of the federal and provincial governments in his call to bring Canada into the top five per cent per capita by Aug. 1 globally.

And while Canada has administered the vaccine to more than one-third of the nation’s population, “we are further behind than other countries,” he said.
COVID-19: No new cases reported by NBPSDHU Friday

The local health unit reported no new cases of COVID-19 throughout the district on Friday.
In Parry Sound, no recoveries were added keeping our district at seven active cases with two being treated in hospital.
1,874 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine were administered in the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit’s region between Thursday and Friday.
Over 43,000 residents across the district have received the first shot of a COVID-19 vaccine and about 2 thousand are fully immunized with both shots to date.

There were 18 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit region Friday, with 15 of the new cases in Nipissing District and three in Parry Sound District.
Ten of the new cases were contracted by people aged 60 to 79, while there were three each in the 80-plus and the 40-to-59 age groups.

Two of the cases were people aged 20 to 39.
There are now 33 active cases in the region, up from 25 Thursday.
Ten cases were resolved since Thursday.
One person remains in hospital. Two people have succumbed to the coronavirus, one in Parry Sound District and one in Nipissing.
