The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit reported no new cases Friday and two more resolved.
One case each in Nipissing and Parry Sound districts is now resolved, bringing the region’s active case count down to three from five Thursday.

The active cases include one person in Nipissing District and two in Parry Sound District. No one is currently in hospital.
To date, there have been 186 cases of COVID-19 in the region, including 109 in Nipissing District and 77, including one death, in Parry Sound District.

The added health protection measures are keeping the influenza virus away, as well.
The district has seen a dramatic decrease in the number of flu cases this year compared to last year at the same time, according to the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit.
There were no cases of the flu reported to the health unit between Nov. 1 and Jan. 20, compared to 37 cases during the same period a year ago.
The health unit says it has no direct evidence, but speculation “would be the public health measures that individuals are taking and the increase in the number of individuals who received their flu shot” could be behind the decrease, it stated in an email.
BARRIE, ONT. Two Home Hardware stores in Parry Sound and Gravenhurst allow in-person shopping, which has caught residents attention amid the provincial lockdown. The Parry Sound store owner said he s able to operate with a 25 per cent capacity, which equals 10 customers, but says he allows only five people as an added precaution. Home Hardware head office wrote in a statement to CTV News, All of our stores are independently owned, and we advise each one to follow provincial and local guidelines. In Ontario, this means operating with curbside pickup and delivery only. The statement goes on to say, In the case of Gravenhurst Home Hardware and Parry Sound Home Hardware, the dealer-owner has been in contact with, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit, OPP and bylaw.
