No change to Parry Sound COVID-19 case count Friday

No change was reported to the COVID-19 case count in the District of Parry Sound for the third day today.
Parry Sound remains at four active cases with no hospitalizations.
One case and no recoveries were added from Nipissing placing that district at 14 active cases.
The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit administered 2279 doses of COVID-19 vaccine in the last 24 hours.
As of Friday, 69 percent of the adult population in the North Bay Parry Sound region have received their first shot of a COVID-19 vaccine.

The region’s top doctor isn’t happy with the province’s decision to push the return of students to class until September but is looking to move forward.
“Yes, we are disappointed. I think that when we weighed the benefits and the risks, we felt the risks were manageable and benefits outweighed the risks and that’s why we recommended having in person learning,” he said in the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit’s weekly update.
Dr. Chirico said the health unit saw a significant impact on the mental and social well-being of kids, alerted to it not only by schools but also by primary care.
