Gulfport Police kicking off Click it or Ticket campaign
With Memorial Day Weekend kicking off the unofficial start of summer and a busy driving season, the Gulfport Police Department is committing to cracking down on motorists who don’t wear seat belts as part of their 2021 Memorial Day Click it or Ticket campaign.
While making sure to do this one simple step every time you are in a vehicle is important, so is buckling up correctly.

Gulfport police encourages drivers to always place the shoulder belt across the middle of the chest, away from the neck, and place the lap belt across the hips, not stomach.

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) Police are searching for a 17-year-old suspect in connection to a shooting that took place late Wednesday night.
Gulfport Police say officers responded to a local hospital at approximately 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night after a receiving a report of a teenage male suffering from a gunshot wound.

After their initial investigation, detectives discovered the suspect, a 17-year-old male, identified as Robert Devon Cherry, shot at a vehicle with multiple occupants, striking one person.
The victim is currently listed in stable condition.
Cherry is described as a 17-year-old Black male, with black hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 5-feet, 9-inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds.
