A large brush fire is burning east of Las Animas in Bent County.

BENT COUNTY, Colo. The community of Fort Lyon, near Las Animas in southeastern Colorado, was evacuated due to a large wind-driven brush fire.
The fire was reported Friday afternoon. The evacuation order has since been lifted.
The Bent County Sheriff s Office said the fire is between 3,000 and 4,000 acres and is 80% contained.
KBLJ radio was reporting the fire was burning east of County Road 16 and near Highway 50. That s about seven miles east of Las Animas and a little northwest of John Martin Reservoir State Park.

HASTY, Colo. â A wildfire is burning on the John Martin Reservoir State Wildlife Area near Fort Lyon, forcing a brief evacuation, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW).
The fire is burning on the 19,471-acre property in inaccessible Arkansas River bottoms amid heavy winds. The Las Animas Fire Department is the lead of 10 agencies fighting the fire.
The Bent County Sheriff s Office has since lifted the evacuation of Fort Lyon.
Officials said he fire is approximately 80% contained and is estimated to be between 3,000 and 4,000 acres.

BENT COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) Firefighters are still battling a fire that started early Friday afternoon near the John Martin Reservoir.
The Bent County Sheriff s Office said the riverbed fire is about 80% contained and so far has burned roughly 4,000 acres.
According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife Southeast Region, ten agencies, led by the Las Animas Fire Department, spent Friday battling the flames fueled by heavy winds. The fire is burning so close to the Arkansas River, it s inaccessible.
