On Monday, April 26, 2021, the United States and The Bahamas began a joint five-day mission to distribute COVID-19 vaccine doses to eight of the Family Islands: Mayaguana, Acklins Island, Crooked Island, Cat Island, Long Island, Inagua, Bimini, and Eleuthera. The mission will span five days (April 26-30), and the first day of the mission alone will distribute 3,200 vaccine doses to Bahamians in need on remote islands. The effort highlights just how deep and how wide the partnership between the United States and The Bahamas goes.
Their first stop, Monday morning, was the remote island of Mayaguana, nearly 330 miles from New Providence. The U.S. Embassy partnered with the Rhode Island National Guard, The Bahamas’ COVID-19 Vaccine Coordination Committee, the Ministry of Health, and health providers on the ground on the various islands to carry out the joint mission.

IT businessman Grammy Leung, 41, is a Taoist who has picked a 1.6-hectare (4-acre), water-drop-shaped island in a lake amid the wilderness of Nova Scotia, Canada, on which to further his religious practice.
The couple bought an island in the Bahamas called L’île d’Anges in 2003, according to
Architectural Digest, but they did not move into their home there until 2012. They told the magazine that the building project turned out to be quite a bit more extensive of an undertaking than they had initially anticipated. They ended up having to build housing for the construction staff, and then they had to create infrastructure for construction crews, including electricity and water.
“We set out to build a house,” Hill said. “We had no idea we had to build everything else. We basically had to build a little town.”

The aviation industry has always been a part of Vashty Roberts’ life. The daughter of an aircraft engineer, she was practically raised at the airport and developed a love for the industry, but there’s one thing she says she has always known and it’s that she did not want to be the person fixing the aircraft. Vashty wanted to be at the controls – flying. Today, Vashty is a commercial rated multi-engine pilot with an instrument rating. All that fancy talk broken down means as a pilot, she can get paid to fly airplanes with two engines and that she’s familiar with flying in instrument conditions where visibility may not be the greatest.

The Access Accelerator Small Business Development Centre’s most recent standalone grant program pumped more than $500,000 into 129 small businesses, the Access Accelerator noted in a press statement, adding that the full program has helped to support more than 2,000 jobs.
This third round of grants, the Access Accelerator stated, totaled $569,000 and brings the amount given to small businesses over the life of the program to $2.3 million across 549 businesses.
“The Standalone Grant Program gives small business owners access to up to $5,000 in grant funding,” the statement revealed.
