At least 7 people killed in shootings on Easter Sunday in Chicago, police say

KATHERINE ROSENBERG-DOUGLAS Chicago Tribune At least seven people were shot to death in Chicago on Easter Sunday in separate attacks across the city, according to Chicago police. In the most recent fatal shooting, officers were dispatched to the 6800 block of South Throop Street in Englewood about 11:20 p.m., according to an online statement from Chicago police. There, a 45-year-old man was found lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest, officials said. The man’s injuries were so critical that he wasn’t able to provide police with an account of what happened, the statement says. He was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Hometown Cop Fatally Struck By Car Investigating Accident: Police

Reply A veteran Hometown police officer was fatally struck by a car while investigating an accident early Saturday. (Shutterstock) HOMETOWN, IL A Hometown police officer died early Saturday morning when he was struck by a vehicle while investigating a car accident. James Kouski, 58, was a 34-year veteran of the Hometown Police Department. Kouski was investigating a DUI crash around 3 a.m. in the 9000 block of South Pulaski Road. Police said the officer was struck by a white sedan. Kouski was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where he died from his injuries. The police department sent an emergency text alert to residents around 5 a.m. stating that traffic in both directions on Pulaski Road between 87th and 91st Streets. Charges are expected against the 0ther driver.
