The suspected drowning of a toddler Saturday in Lake Villa appears to be a tragic accident, police said.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 3-year old boy apparently fell into a pool at a home on the 100 block of Balsam Avenue, said Lake Villa police Lt. James DeCaro.
The boy was identified by the Lake County coroner s office as Zayden Zavodny of Lake Villa.
Fire and police were called to the residence about 8:50 p.m. The child was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room, according to Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek.
Two injured, driver charged after utility vehicle flips in McHenry

A utility terrain vehicle crash Friday in McHenry sent two to the hospital, police said Monday.
McHenry police and the McHenry Township Fire Protection District were called shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday to the 4500 block of Lakewood Road about a single-vehicle crash involving a UTV, according to police.
Officers arrived to find the driver of a UTV had lost control and flipped the vehicle, which had five occupants.
Two of the passengers were hospitalized, police said. One was taken to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. The second injured passenger initially was taken to the same hospital but later flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious, but not life threatening injuries.

A man was injured Wednesday after driving his car off Route 21 into a park in Libertyville, authorities said.
The man was alone and driving a black sedan south on Route 21 when he swerved off the road and drove through Cook Park, according to a news release from the Libertyville Police Department. His car struck an empty park bench and tree.
First responders arrived at Route 21 and E. Church St. at 3:23 p.m. and cut the man from his vehicle, the news release said. He was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with nonlife-threatening injuries.
