GREAT FALLS â Elected officials from the U.S. and Canada on Tuesday discussed concerns about President Joe Bidenâs decision to temporarily stop construction of the Keystone XL pipeline.
The virtual forum was hosted by U.S. Rep. David McKinley of West Virginia.
Among concerns discussed were the economic impact that cancelling the pipeline is expected to have on counties, including some in Montana, that the pipeline would pass through.
Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen spoke during the forum, saying the president doesnât have the authority to shut down the pipeline.

BILLINGS â Twenty states agree with the North American Meat Instituteâs petition challenging the constitutionality of Californiaâs Proposition 12 (Prop 12).
Montana farmers and ranchers are watching Prop 12 very closely because if allowed, it has the potential to affect ag operations here in Big Sky country.
âCalifornia s Prop 12 has us concerned because they re trying to dictate how farmers and ranchers in other states can raise their animals,â said Custer rancher and Montana Farm Bureau Federation director Casey Mott.
