CANBERRA-Australians rallied in the capital and other cities on Monday demanding justice for women and calling out misogyny and dangerous workplace cultures as the government reels from two rape allegations.
Outside Parliament House in Canberra, the crowd of hundreds was mostly female and most wore black. They carried placards including Justice for Women and Men, Own Your Guilt .
Australian Prime Minster Scott Morrison refused organizers demand that he address the crowd, and organizers said they would not meet him in his office.
Attorney-General Christian Porter says he is prepared to take the witness stand and deny rape allegations in a legal showdown with the ABC.
Mr Porter has filed a defamation suit against the broadcaster and reporter Louise Milligan in a bid to clear his name.
The suit will deal with an online article covering a letter detailing a historical sexual assault claim.
While the story did not name Mr Porter his lawyers will argue he was easily identifiable.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has defended his decision not to call an independent inquiry into his minister's personal conduct as Mr Porter prepares to resume duties on March 31.
