The Goa government on Tuesday challenged the acquittal by a sessions court of Tehelka magazine founder editor Tarun Tejpal in the sexual assault case in the Bombay High Court.
On May 21, a sessions court in Goa had acquitted Tarun Tejpal of the charge of sexually assaulting a former woman colleague inside the elevator of a luxury hotel in the state in 2013.
Goa Advocate General Devidas Pangam told PTI that the state government has challenged the order before the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court.

New Delhi:Â As many as 75 COVID-19 patients have lost their lives at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in just the last four days, as the union territory’s largest hospital faces “logistic issues” in the supply of medical oxygen.
Thirteen more COVID-19 patients died at GMCH in the early hours of Friday, a senior health department official said.
The horror at the GMCH is continuing even as the Goa bench of the Bombay high court is hearing petitions related to deaths during the “dark hours” at the premier hospital. While the state government has not revealed the exact cause of recent deaths at the GMCH, it has told the high court that there were “logistic issues” related to supply of medical oxygen to patients.
