Capitol Insider: New Executive Order Seeks To Contain Surge In Coronavirus Cases

TRANSCRIPT: Dick Pryor: This is Capitol Insider, your weekly look inside Oklahoma politics, policy and government. I m Dick Pryor with eCapitol news director Shawn Ashley. Shawn, with about three weeks left in the year, Governor Kevin Stitt is issuing a new executive order to address the high numbers of coronavirus cases in the state and also the resulting stress on hospitals. Now, key to this new order is limiting the size of public gatherings. What is the rationale behind this approach? Shawn Ashley: Well, one thing Governor Stitt and Commissioner of Health Dr. Lance Frye pointed out is that Oklahoma s seven-day average of new cases has remained fairly steady since Thanksgiving. Free Market Friday: Character assassination By: Jonathan Small Guest Columnist December 10, 2020 Jonathan Small During U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings, critics portrayed him as a drunk and a rapist. Fortunately, those attacks failed and Kavanaugh was confirmed. Unfortunately, the character-assassination tactics used against Kavanaugh have now been transported to Oklahoma. Gov. Bollenbach aggressively and vocally supported efforts to bar Christian schools from serving children who receive scholarships through a state program, citing Oklahoma State Department of Education regulations against “discriminating” based on “religion” and “sexual orientation.” Put simply, Christian schools would have to hire atheists and abandon historic Christian teachings to participate.

CVS Installs Time-Delay Safes, Aims To Decrease Robberies

CVS Installs Time-Delay Safes, Aims To Decrease Robberies Pharmacy robberies happen a lot here in Oklahoma. But CVS says they have the technology to decrease those robberies by half.  An armed robbery happened just a few weeks ago at a Tulsa Walgreens. But pharmacy chain, CVS, says now robbers who target any of its nearly 80 locations across Oklahoma won t have as much luck thanks to the installation of new time-delay safes. But when they see that I ll actually think twice about whether I should rob a pharmacy, so this is kind of our initiative and purpose behind it, Shawn Francis, District Leader with CVS Health.
