DuPage County receives 13,650 doses of COVID-19 vaccine By FOX 32 Digital Staff Published  DuPage CO. - On Wednesday, the  DuPage County Health Department received its first shipment of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine from the Illinois Department of Public Health. “This is the day we’ve been waiting for since the pandemic began. The vaccine brings new, tangible hope to DuPage County as we receive the first of many shipments of the COVID-19 vaccine,” said DuPage County Chairman Dan Cronin.  “We have been preparing for months with our local health systems to distribute approved vaccines for emergency and critical care staff,” said Sam Tornatore, DuPage County Board of Health President. “This first delivery of vaccine is the result of tireless work from our public health officials, health systems, law enforcement, the state, and everyone who has helped achieve this historical event.”

Elliott runs HOPE Ornaments, which gives thousands of ornaments to suburban hospital patients every holiday season. She hasn t been able to hand-deliver ornaments this year because of COVID-19. So she s used to working hard this time of year. But the global pandemic has brought new challenges to her effort, making it more difficult to deliver ornaments at a time when there are more people in hospitals in need of cheering up.
