Image Source: IANS News New Delhi, May 28 : The Supreme Court on Friday asked district authorities in various states to upload, within 24 hours, information of the children who became orphans since the beginning of the Covid-19 in March last year, and urged the state government to provide immediate relief to them. A bench of Justices L. Nageswara Rao and Aniruddha Bose said: The district authorities are directed to upload the information of children who have become orphans after March, 2020 on the portal Bal Swaraj before tomorrow (Saturday) evening. They are further directed to immediately take charge of such children and attend to their basic needs without waiting for any further orders from this Court.

SC seeks Centre s reply on Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia to kin of Covid deceased

The Supreme Court Monday sought the Centre s reply on pleas seeking ex-gratia compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the families of those who have died of COVID-19 and said that there should be a uniform policy for issuing death certificates to those succumbing to the deadly virus. A vacation bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan and M R Shah also asked the Centre to place before it the ICMR guidelines on death certificates for COVID-19 victims, saying there should be uniform policy for issuing such documents. Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, appearing for the Centre, sought time to obtain instructions and bring all relevant materials regarding the scheme under Section 12(iii) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 as well as the letter dated April 8, 2015 issued by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) with regard to compensation.

A Bench headed by Justice AM Khanwilkar took into note the submissions of the State Election Commission that Class I gazetted officials will be responsible for adherence to COVID-19 protocol at each counting centre.

May 01, 2021, 13:44 PM IST New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Saturday (May 1) allowed the process of counting of votes of Uttar Pradesh Gram Panchayat polls while taking into note the assurance given by the State Election Commission that necessary measures will take place at counting centers in terms of  COVID-19 guidelines.  A Bench headed by Justice AM Khanwilkar took into note the submissions of the State Election Commission that Class I gazetted officials will be responsible for adherence to COVID-19 protocol at each counting centre, according to news agency ANI. The Bench also directed that no victory rallies will be permitted throughout the state of Uttar Pradesh.

It also recorded the undertaking given by the State poll panel that CCTV recording will be done centre-wise and the footage will be preserved and given in the petition pending before the Allahabad High Court.
