LONDON, ONT. It may not matter if London and other local regions are faring better or worse than places like Toronto with COVID-19 when it comes to province’s reopening plan. Premier Doug Ford is expected to make an announcement Thursday afternoon in regards to the province’s plan to reopen from the latest round of restrictions. Early indications are that the province is saying goodbye to the regional colour coded approach in favour of a sector based approach. “The Minister of Health has suggested that we re going to be moving away from the regionalization approach,” said Solicitor General Sylvia Jones on Wednesday.

This was going to be the week where we would be able to emerge from the latest round of stay-at-home orders, but it will be a little while longer until present health restrictions start to lift.
On Thursday, the Premier’s Office announced province-wide stay-at-home orders would be extended until at least June 2.
“While we are seeing positive trends as a result of the public health measures put in place, we cannot afford to let it up yet,” said Premier Doug Ford in a statement. “We must stay vigilant to ensure our ICU numbers stay down and our hospital capacity is protected. If we stay the course for the next two weeks and continue vaccinating record number[s] of Ontarians every day, we can begin to look forward to July and August and having the summer that everyone deserves.”

The links at local golf courses are green, well manicured, and ready to be played, however, the ban on playing the sport is going to stay in place.
Despite protests and lobbying from the golfing industry and players, the Provincial government has announced that the ban on golfing will remain for the duration of the current stay-at-home order.
The golfing industry insists the sport is safe and that they follow protocols on the courses to keep people distanced and sanitized.
Even the panel of medical professionals who pressured the government to put the stay-at-home order in place say outdoor sports are safe.
TORONTO After more than a month under a stay-at-home order, Ontario is turning a corner in the COVID-19 pandemic, but the province’s science advisory table says public health measures are still needed to ensure a “good summer.” The table released the findings during a news conference Thursday, in which they said that case numbers, as well as positivity and hospitalization rates, are decreasing largely due to increased vaccinations and stringent lockdown measures. They said the rate of vaccinations will need to stay high and that some public health restrictions are still required until mid-June to keep the third wave of the novel coronavirus in Ontario at bay.
