Don Richard Flanigan, 78, of Avis, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021 at his home.
Don was born May 24, 1942 at the old Teah Hospital in Lock Haven to the late Alpheus Flanigan and the late Dorothy Flanigan.
Don graduated from Bald Eagle Nittany High School in 1962. He served in the Army from 1964 to 1967 where he was an engineer equipment repairman and served in Alaska as well as Greenland. While serving in the Army, Don received the good conduct medal, the national defense service medal, and the expert rifle medal.
Don was a member of the Labelle Vallee Lodge 232 in Jersey Shore and a member of the Altoona, Pa., Shriner’s.

Leroy Dean Rupert, Jr., 69, of Beech Creek, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born in Lock Haven on Sept. 25, 1951, the son of the late Leroy D., Sr. and Minnie Kline Rupert.
Leroy was a 1971 graduate of Bald Eagle Nittany High School.
On Dec. 14, 1977, he married the love of his life, Lorraine G. Miller, who survives.
Leroy was employed at Champion Auto Parts in Lock Haven before working at McDonald’s of Lamar until his retirement.
He was a life member of the Nittany Valley Fire Company where he served as an EMT for 20 years. He was also a life member of the Walker Township Fire Company, Hublersburg.

Robert Earl âBobâ Leathers, Jr.
Robert Earl “Bob” Leathers, Jr., 62, took the hands of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and entered into heavenly rest on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021.
Born on Oct. 30, 1958, in Lock Haven, he was the son of Gertrude (Lynch) Leathers of Salona and the late Robert E. Leathers, Sr. On June 13, 1980, he married Debra A. Vermeulen who survives at home.
Bob was a 1977 graduate of Bald Eagle Nittany High School. He entered the United States Air Force in August 1977 and retired in 1997 after 20 years of service. He earned the rank of TSGT and earned a BS in nursing and master’s degree in aerospace physiology while serving. He held several positions in the Air Force, like the Independent Duty Medical Technician. He retired as the Non Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of The Surgery Clinic at Travis AFB, Calif.
Jeanne Marie Dunkle
Jeanne Marie Dunkle, 74, of Mill Hall passed away on Feb. 3, 2021 at UPMC. She is the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy Wagner Sr. of Beech Creek.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Alvin Wagner Jr., and two sisters, Louise Council and Viginia Thompson.
Jeanne was a 1965 graduated of Bald Eagle Nittany High School. She started her nursing career at Phillipsburg State General Hospital where she graduated as a registered nurse in 1968. Then she attended Penn State, where she earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing in 1972. She then continued her education at Bloomsburg University where she earned her Masters of Science Degree in Nursing and majored in Adult Health and Illness/Neuroscience in 1993.
