Extra-long wheelbase V12-powered uber-limo sets new price high-water mark for German brand
The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class will be joined by two new super-luxury variants in the fourth quarter of this year, after the order books for the S 580L 4MATIC and the even longer-wheelbase Mercedes-Maybach S 680 open in the third quarter.
But the big news is their hefty price tags, which Mercedes-Benz Australia announced today at $329,900 plus on-road costs for the S 580L 4MATIC (about $90K more than the entry-level short-wheelbase S 450 at $240,700) and a cool $565,800 plus ORCs for the Maybach S 680.

More than 20,000 customers have already ordered an EQA since February. Now two new members are joining the model family of the all-electric compact SUV: the EQA 300 4MATIC with 168 kW (combined power consumption: 15.8 kWh/100 km, CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) and the EQA 350 4MATIC with 215 kW (combined power consumption: 15.8 kWh/100 km, CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) round off the line-up at the top; the ranges according to NEDC are 493 kilometres, according to WLTP[2] 400-426 and 409-432 kilometres. The two all-wheel-drive models can be ordered now. Later in the year, a version with particularly long range will follow, according to a statement issued by the automaker.
Mercedes-Benz EQA Finally Goes All-Wheel Drive
May 06, 2021 at 8:28am ET ++ The automaker just announced two separate AWD versions.
The people who buy SUVs and crossovers may never really use the extra ride height and ground clearance that these vehicles offer, but even so, many still prefer the extra sure-footedness provided by all-wheel drive. At first, Mercedes didn’t announce the EQA electric crossover with all-wheel drive, but now it’s added two such versions to the range, and chances are they will be more popular than the base front-wheel drive variant.
They are the EQA 300 4Matic and EQA 350 4Matic; the first makes 225 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque, while the second more powerful version puts out 288 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque. Their claimed sprint times to 100 km/h (62 mph) are 7.7 seconds and 6 seconds respectively and they both top out at 160 km/h (99 mph).
