Does Subaru make the longest-lasting cars? Subaru is nowhere to be found in the 2021 iSeeCars Longest-Lasting Cars to Reach 200,000 Miles and Beyond list. Toyota has 6 of the top ten models, Chevrolet has two, GMC one, and Ford one model. What happened to the Subaru Forester and Outback?
This year iSeeCars analyzed over 11.8 million cars sold in 2020 to determine which models have the highest percentage of vehicles that reached 200,000 miles. The Subaru Forester and Outback aren’t found on any of the lists, making it four years in-a-row.

Subaru has been known as an automaker that made cars that last longer than many others, but is that changing? The Japanese automaker had its Forester, Outback, and Legacy models on the iSeeCars Top 10 ranked longest-lasting cars list, as recently as 2016.

Automobiles are more complex than ever, and more dependable than ever.
That s the encouraging news from data analytics firm JD Power which released its 2021 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study last week. The widely watched study found vehicle durability at an all-time high, improving 10% over 2020 and 25% over 2016 when the industry was backsliding in durability due to the swarm of new electronics debuting on vehicles.
This year s survey also marked a victory for Kia as the Korean brand beat perennial #1 Toyota as the most dependable mainstream brand. Toyota s luxury brand, Lexus, continued its dominance as the most reliable automaker overall for the ninth time in 10 years. The Porsche 911 sports car was the most dependable model surveyed.

The midsize truck segment has returned in full force. Some automakers - we re talking specifically to you, Ford - believed midsize trucks were no longer necessary but were soon proven wrong. Today, there s a new Ford Ranger and longtime players like the Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon twins and Toyota Tacoma remain popular choices. And there s the Nissan Frontier.
The Japanese automaker unveiled the completely redesigned 2022 Frontier earlier this month but the outgoing generation, which went on sale for 2005, is going out on top. J.D. Power has named the 2021 Frontier as the most reliable model in the midsize pickup segment as part of its annual US Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS). Owners were surveyed about their 2018 to 2021 model year Frontier.
