Dog food recall: Midwestern Pet Foods recalls products for salmonella

MONMOUTH A Monmouth plant that produces pet food has been linked to a possible salmonella outbreak. The producer of this pet food has now issued a recall. Months after Midwestern Pet Foods Inc. recalled dozens of products potentially linked to the deaths of more than 70 dogs, the company is voluntarily recalling select dog and cat food that may be contaminated with salmonella. Formerly Wells Pet Food, Midwestern Pet Foods is located at 617 S. D St. in Monmouth. The Evansville, Indiana, family-owned company says the new recall is for specific lots and expiration dates of 10 of its dog and cat food brands in a recall notice posted on the Food and Drug Administration website Tuesday. 

911 Call Centers and City Services Flooded with Calls

Robert Uribe, the 911 Technology and Communications Administrator for Dallas Police Dept., said that they had staff in hotels so they could be close to work. He said supervisors and managers are jumping in to take calls to help elevate the amount of calls. We re trying to manage these calls as effectively as we can under these circumstances, said Uribe. What I will tell you, please be patient, if you call 911 for an emergency, please hold the line, do not hang up, it s more important that you stay on the line until we answer the phone, said Uribe. Uribe said they have seen extended wait times, given that they re receiving calls not related to police or emergencies.
