Kindergarten readiness program available to Dell Rapids families
Tom Savage
The 2020-21 school year is winding down, but there are programs already ramping up for prospective Dell Rapids students for this fall.
All families in Dell Rapids with children who are 4-years-old or younger on Sept. 1, 2021 are eligible to participate in a no-cost kindergarten readiness program. The program is called Waterford Upstart, which provides home-based kindergarten readiness delivered via technology.
South Dakota is one of the few states that does not have funding for preschool learning. Because of that, South Dakota receives an Education Innovation and Research (EIR) federal grant to put money into early learners, which was used to put toward the Waterford program.
