WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - People across the north country and the rest of the state are voting Tuesday on their school districtâs annual budgets and school board members.
We caught up with some voters in the Watertown City School District, where theyâre deciding the fate of a proposed $13 million capital project.
The money would be used for improvements, like a new roof at the high school as well as heating and ventilation upgrades.
LAFARGEVILLE â Making the change back to full in-person learning, LaFargeville Central School District managed to do so by cutting down on traffic in the building, with teachers changing rooms rather than the students.
On Monday, grades 6 to 12 at LaFargeville went back to full in-person learning, joining pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students who had been attending their lessons in person each day through the year.
Superintendent Travis Hoover said it was wonderful to see kids back in the building again. The district has had grades pre-K through five in-person all year long, five days a week, and theyâre all cohorted into their own groups, with teachers traveling to various classrooms. The exception is physical education; theyâve all been going to PE class.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Itâs May 6 and teachers at Watertown schools say it feels like the first day of school. Thatâs because city schools are back in session, in person, full-time, with masks and social distancing.
Beth Castillejaâs kindergarten class at Sherman Elementary school is learning in class, all together, for the first time.
âLooking fabulous,â she told her students.
The Watertown City School District brought about 1,500 K-through-6th grade hybrid learners back to the classroom, 5 days a week, beginning Wednesday.
