The COVID-19 vaccine has been in short supply, but once it s readily available, the local Vaccine Distribution Task Force is aiming to do 10,000 vaccinations a day.
The task force has now received provincial support for its community-wide response to administer vaccines.
It would utilize five types of clinics and follow the Ontario government’s three-phase approach, meaning those most at-risk will get the vaccine first.
“There is still a lot of work to do on logistics, staffing, and operational planning but I am very proud of the effort that has gone into developing a community- involved plan to ensure as many eligible people are vaccinated as quickly as possible.” Shirley Hilton, Deputy Chief for the Waterloo Regional Police Service and lead for the Waterloo Region Vaccine Distribution Task Force said in a release.
