And some ArkLaTex health leaders say the Moderna vaccine can’t arrive soon enough. Hospital leaders at Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana are waiting on the arrival of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Dr. Loren Robinson said Christus St. Michael is slated to receive 100 doses. Doctors say no unexpected side effects have been reported by those who have taken the vaccine. KSLA was there Thursday when Christus St. Michael Health System’s Dr. Jason Harris received a vaccine against COVID-19. Dr. Harris was among the first to take advantage of the vaccine at the Texarkana hospital. That was over 24 hours ago and today the doctor was back on the job.

(KSLA) - The COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine arrived in Texarkana, Tx. on the morning of Thursday, Dec. 17. Governor Gregg Abbott expressed his encouragement for the progress being made to ship the COVID-19 vaccine across the state. “Before coming out here today we had already delivered about 95,000 doses of the COVID vaccine today. An additional 129,000 doses will be delivered across the state of Texas,” said Gov. Abbott. Wadley Regional Medical Center and Christus St. Michael Health System received 975 doses each of the vaccine. The vaccine received a warm welcome to the twin cities, with leaders of the two hospitals expressing excitement for the history-making arrival.

(KSLA) - Two Bowie County hospitals will now join other health care facilities to lead the way for workers’ safety. Both CHRISTUS St. Michael and Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana were selected among 100 Texas health care facilities to receive the Pfizer-BioTech COVID-19 vaccine “The amount of patients we receive from all over the region makes us uniquely positioned,” said Dr. Loren Robinson, vice president of CHRISTUS St. Micahel Health System.
