Hot oil, also called thermic fluid, is a heat transfer fluid (HTF) used in oil refineries and chemical plants. HTF transfers heat to the process fluid using sensible heat. Many limitations exist to using steam as a heat source. The steam pressure must be high enough to get the high temperatures required for the process; a steam system also requires water treatment and condensate collection systems; and steam systems are also a common leak point within plants. Conversely, steam is non-toxic and non-flammable, so there is zero negative impact to the environment.

Jan. 12 A Cal Poly satellite approximately the size of a loaf of bread will launch into space Wednesday if all goes to plan, the university announced Monday.
ExoCube 2 is a CubeSat device, a nanosatellite that was built over several years by a group of 50 Cal Poly students.
The ExoCube 2 will be launched between 7 to 10 a.m. Wednesday alongside nine other tiny, NASA-sponsored satellites on the space agency’s next Educational Launch of Nanosatellites mission, or ELaNa for short. ELaNa is an initiative created by NASA that intends to attract and retain students in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines.

Throughout the Seventies, David Bowie did not have fans. He had acolytes, disciples, obsessives; teens and 20-somethings who would buy every record, watch every move, copy his clothes, his haircuts – the upswept flaming bush of Ziggy Stardust, the soul-boy quiff of Young Americans – his attitude.
Tony, a student friend of mine, idolised David Bowie. Back in the late Sixties, before the world at large even knew who Bowie was, Tony had even met him once or twice. Bowie was living in suburban Beckenham at the time – an aspirant pop singer, dabbling in mime, kabuki, the visual arts – running an arts project, and a couple of times Tony was invited back to Bowie’s home to hang out, smoke a joint or two, and talk.
