As the outdoor community heads outside for the upcoming holiday, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is reminding Coloradans of simple ways to recreate responsibly.
Colorado outdoor spaces continue to see increased visitation across the state as residents and out-of-state visitors seek outdoor and socially distanced activities.
While visitation at state parks and wildlife areas has increased steadily over the past five years, the pandemic elevated the need to address increased human impact at state parks and the importance of educating the community on how to balance outdoor recreation with mindful conservation.

Officials with the US Forest Service are refuting reports they’re close to pinpointing what or who caused the massive East Troublesome Fire in Grand County.
On Friday, a US Forest Service spokesperson reiterated that the investigation has revealed the fire was “human-caused” but said there is no word yet on exactly what started the deadly blaze.
“There is no update to the investigation,” she said. “The investigation is still in progress.”
Multiple people have contacted the Sky-Hi News in recent days saying that investigators are close to filing charges. However, the USFS spokesperson said that investigators are still interviewing potential witnesses and gathering information, and they are not making any announcements about a cause at this moment.

Colorado homeowners who live where forests abut civilization — like most of the Roaring Fork Valley — are being urged by state and local public safety officials to buckle up for another potentially active fire season.
Warm temperatures, low humidity and high winds have already ramped up the fire danger.
“After last week, we’re in fire season now,” said Roaring Fork Fire Rescue Chief Scott Thompson.

As if the economic ravages of the COVID pandemic weren’t enough, Grand County was hit by two wildfires last year that didn’t help at all.
One of the fires, the East Troublesome Fire, was particularly bad with more than 300 homes destroyed and 200 “outbuildings,” along with nearly countless other assets burned and ruined.
While Grand Lake has pulled some donors together to help offer grants to businesses hurt in the fire, through and Grand Foundation administered effort, a new program has been presented which offers a short deadline for anyone who is interested. This is not only for businesses.

Mar.31.2021
Rocky Mountain National Park, which sits just outside Estes Park, Colorado, is one of the countryâs most popular -- and as a result, most crowded -- national parks. Various park officials met with the Estes Park town board earlier this week to explain that the park will require reservations this summer as a means to ease crowding and subsequent congestion.
Although nothing has been officially announced, the park plans to implement a two-tiered timed-entry reservation system this year from May 28 to October 11, reports the
Loveland Reporter-Herald. The first type of reservation will be for the enormously popular Bear Lake Road Corridor (BLRC), while the other reservation will only allow access to the rest of the park, the
