It was a Hollywood double for Noosa locals this week as actors Matt Damon and Liam Hemsworth holidayed together in the Queensland hot spot. The pair spent the week as part of a large group - including Damon s wife Luciana Barroso and their children, as well as friends Luke and April Munro - travelling north from Noosa to their usual camping spot at Double Island Point and Rainbow Beach. The group were spotted dining at up-market restaurant Sails on Hastings St last weekend, where they were seated at a beachfront table and enjoyed a night of wine and cocktails. Hemsworth was even seen hitting the beach at Noosa that night.
The warning stretches as far north as Seventeen Seventy down to Caloundra. A trough with an embedded subtropical low over the central Coral Sea is forecast to deepen while moving rapidly southwest towards the Capricornia Coast on Sunday. It is then expected to adopt a south to south easterly track on Monday and move parallel to the coast, either along the coastal fringe or just offshore. The threat of heavy rainfall is highly dependent on the track of the trough and embedded subtropical low. The weather warning said the heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 120mm and 160mm are likely in some areas with locally intense falls of 200mm to 250mm possible over coastal communities and Fraser Island.
Campers along the southeast Queensland coastline are now being warned to stay put and that the time to relocate has passed as the Bureau issues a new severe weather warning. The Bureau of Meteorology warned that heavy rainfall between 120 to 160mm in just six hours may lead to flash flooding across Wide Bay, Burnett and Southeast Coast districts. The Bureau also warned of intense rainfall that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding, as well as damaging wind gusts to around 90 km/h, possible through communities east of Bundaberg, Maryborough and Noosa Heads later tonight and through Monday. Earlier this afternoon, campers on the Fraser Coast were told the window to leave was probably closing .
