HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - One of Huntsville best events returns after a year and a half hiatus to the Von Braun Center. The Leaders & Legends event is one of the area’s largest fundraisers attracting some of the world’s most accomplished athletes, leaders and speakers.
This year’s keynote speaker will be NFL Hall of Famer and current Jackson State Head Football Coach Deion Sanders. Sanders was scheduled for last year, but the event was cancelled due to the COVID 19 Pandemic.

It wasn t able to happen last year because of the pandemic, which is why this year more than ever the club needs your help to support kids right here in the community.

Von Braun was one of the main creators of Nazi Germany s V-2 rocket at the end of World War II. After the end of the war he emigrated to the United States where he was nationalized and worked to develop the country s space exploration agenda and, eventually, NASA reports Gizmodo.
However, another Twitter user clarified that “Elon” was not the leader of the Martian community in Von Braun s book, but rather a title.
Who oesn’t love a weird, 60-plus-year-old coincidence? As if there aren’t enough headlines about Elon Musk at the moment, a connection between his name and a decades-old book that seemed to eerily predict the billionaire’s involvement in Mars exploration resurfaced this week.
In the 1950s, German-turned-American scientist Wernher von Braun (yes, the Nazis’ leading rocket man), wrote a science fiction novel called The Mars Project. It takes place in then-distant 1980 and features human colonists on Mars whose leader uses the title “Elon.” As in, oh, we don’t know … billionaire Tesla and SpaceX big shot, upcoming SNL host, and guy who wants us to get us to Mars?
