A deadly daylight shooting at Vancouver International Airport targeted left one person dead Sunday

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) One man has been killed, and responding officers were fired upon in a brazen, daylight shooting at Vancouver International Airport that police say is related to the ongoing gang conflict in the Lower Mainland.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called in, and provided an update Sunday evening.
Sgt. Frank Jang says the 28-year-old shooting victim was known to police. No arrests have been made, but he says investigators are looking for at least two suspects. Police are asking anyone with dashcam footage to contact the Richmond RCMP or IHIT.

A 28-year-old man was shot and killed Sunday at Vancouver International Airport in what police believe was a gang-related killing.
The shooting, which occurred mid-afternoon outside the departures terminal, was the latest in a spate of gang-related violence across B.C. s Lower Mainland, police said.
Sgt. Frank Jang with the Lower Mainland s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), said the victim was known to police.
Richmond RCMP responded to reports of a shooting at around 3 p.m. local time. Police intercepted the getaway vehicle an SUV and were shot at by the suspects, who are still at large, said Jang.

British Columbia Emergency Health Services spokesperson has said the bicycle paramedics at the airport responded to the scene at around 3 pm Two ambulances were also sent to the airport after the shooting, but no one was taken to the hospital.
After the shooting started, panicked travelers in the vicinity ran for cover, thinking it was a mass shooting but the killer was looking for a specific target. Two RCMP officers were seen running across the sky bridge linking the covered airport parking lot to the domestic terminal at 3:35 pm. They appeared to be heading toward the south end of that terminal, while another person ran in the opposite direction. Richmond RCMP said its officers intercepted the getaway vehicle but lost them after the suspects fired at them.

It says it s working with the RCMP to respond to the incident, but did not provide details. The airport says in a tweet that it s currently open and safe, with restricted access. The Vancouver International Airport said in a tweet that it was working with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and responding to reports of a police incident outside the airport s main terminal. It later tweeted that the situation had been contained. We can confirm the situation has been contained at YVR. The airport is open and safe. Flights are operating, the airport said on Twitter.
Bike paramedics at the airport responded and two ground units were dispatched, but no one was transported to hospital, according to CBC News.
