Call for further objections to Anaerobic Digester planned for outskirts of Tullamore Reporter:   ); THE residents of Rahan Road in Tullamore are calling for more people to object to a proposal by Dublin based Strategic Power to construct an Anaerobic Digester at Ballyduff. The site is located near the Axis Business Park, close to Chadwicks Hardware, and opposite a site for a proposed Laois Offaly Training and Education Board facility. The residents believe if the development is approved it will have a major detrimental impact on the whole town of Tullamore and not just the Rahan Road. A bright end in Listowel to a torrid 2020

Following the trials and tribulations of 2020, one prominent Listowel organisation was only too eager to end the year on a positive note, by spreading some much-needed cheer with the addition of a wonderfully lit giant bauble in the Square. Listowel Business and Community Alliance partnered with Gas Networks Ireland to mount this new addition to the town s Christmas lighting display. The giant bauble is now on display in a bright symbol of local resilience and hope. Listowel Business and Community Alliance Marketing Committee member, Cora O Brien discusses the plans, saying: We had worked very hard on a full lighting scheme for Listowel earlier in 2020, however due to Covid we had to postpone those plans until next year. However, we are delighted to have the support of Gas Networks Ireland to help us start our collection of light installations which we will be adding to every year.

Report: 85% of energy in Ireland supplied by gas and wind energy

Flynn s Tomatoes grow greener with €1 8m investment

The company s expansion will see the development of new greenhouse facilities and a two-kilometre connection to the national gas network.  MF Nurseries said that switching to natural gas as its main source of energy will reduce its carbon emissions by up to 10%.   Almost all of the remaining emissions will then be captured and absorbed by the tomato plants, thanks to the company s innovative greenhouse system.
