PHOTO: SCREENGRAB/File TURBAT: At least five people, including four settlers, were injured in a grenade attack at the main Bazaar Cinema Chowk in Turbat, Balochistan on Sunday. The area was cordoned off by police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel right after the attack, whereas the injured were taken to a local hospital, according to the police. The injured had been identified as Liaqat Allah Yar, resident of Lodhran, Punjab;  Naseeb Khan Mushkoor Ali, resident of Sindh; Naeem Farooq, resident of Bahawalpur; Zeeshan Mehran who hailed from Sindh and Liaqat Zafar who hailed from Dashti Bazaar Turbat.

PD Aligns Strategy To Streamline Oil, Gas Sector In Year-2020

It introduced the ease-of-doing-business plan and took radical measures to ensure a level-playing field for all competitors in the energy sector. For the purpose, as many as 10 unnecessary steps, out of 24, were abolished to encourage investment in the petroleum sector. Recounting the government achievements in the oil and gas sector, a senior official privy to the petroleum sector developments told APP that the PD started importing Euro-5 standard petrol and diesel for the first time in the country s history.

Govt offers Rs450b to IPPS to clear circular debt Proposes to make payment to 47 companies over a period of one year ISLAMABAD: The federal government has offered a package to the independent power producers (IPPs) in a bid to clear Rs450 billion circular debt, which has plagued the entire energy chain. The circular debt in the power sector stood at Rs2.3 trillion by end June 2020 against Rs1.6 trillion during the same period in 2019. The circular debt in the oil and gas sector stands at Rs1.6 trillion. The IPPs are also facing circular debt which overdue receivables had increased to around Rs700 billion.     

Militants attack Pakistan checkpoint in Balochistan, killing 7 soldiers

1694 Karachi, December 27 At least seven Pakistani soldiers were killed in a terrorist attack in the country’s restive Balochistan province, the Army said on Sunday. The militants fire-raided a Frontier Corps (FC) outpost in Harnai region of the province late last night, it said. During the intense exchange of fire, seven soldiers were killed, it said. The area was cordoned off and escape routes blocked to apprehend the fleeing militants, while a large-scale search and clearance operation was underway. “Such cowardly acts by inimical elements backed by anti-state forces will not be allowed to sabotage hard earned peace and prosperity in Balochistan,” the Army said.
