Governor Charlie Baker announced Thursday that everyone eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine under Phase 1 of the stateâs rollout program can now book an appointment to get a shot.
That now includes home-based health care workers, and non-COVID-facing health care workers, as well as workers and residents of congregate care settings such as shelters and prisons. The vaccine has already been available to COVID-facing health care workers, staff, and residents of long-term-care facilities, and first responders such as police, firefighters, and paramedics.

Q. My husband is 88 years old and is in late stage dementia. One of his upper molars, which has had a crown for years is now, infected with some decay. Our dentist, in whom we have great confidence, is recommending we have it extracted and that it must be done by an oral surgeon due to its size, multiple roots, and also because it touches the sinus cavity. My concern is whether the procedure will likely cause immediate further mental decline. I understand that anesthesia is harmful for dementia patients, so I would want only novocaine used rather than a sleeping procedure. I have searched so much to find help for our situation. I want to do what is the right and best thing for my dearest one and am hoping for as much guidance and information from a professional before moving forward. P. Mc.
