WARREN A former Warren G. Harding girls basketball coach is requesting parole from his 15-years-to-life sentence after his conviction in the strangulation death of his wife, Deana, at their Warren home in May 2004.
David Jenkins, 58, who is housed at Marion Correctional Institution, is scheduled for his first hearing before the Ohio Parole Board this month, and assistant Trumbull County Prosecutor Christopher Becker wrote a letter advising the board about his office’s opposition to Jenkins’ release.
In his letter, Becker states facts of the case were very straightforward. It was well known in the community that Jenkins and his wife were having marital problems, and Deana had told a number of close friends by May 2004 she was leaving her husband.

They believe the three taken into custody are the leaders of a ring selling cocaine laced with fentanyl that has killed three people in Warren.
Warren police called the bust Operation S.N.O.W. (Stopping Narcotic Overdoses in Warren). The investigation began when a 47-year-old woman in Warren had a fatal overdose in November.
Authorities said first responders spoke to people at the scene, who provided key information to help police track down the three.

Jermaine Tate, 38, has been charged with conducting criminal enterprise, delivery/manufacturing fentanyl and three counts of conspiracy to deliver/manufacture fentanyl. He was given a $250,000 cash or surety bond.
Warren police say they have taken down the key players in a “deadly drug cell” that s believed to be responsible for at least 24 overdoses and three deaths in Warren this past year.
Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer said his special investigations unit has taken three men off the street and are seeking a fourth person in a conspiracy that allegedly involved the sale of drugs containing fentanyl to customers who thought they were buying heroin or cocaine.
“We know of at least three deaths in Warren alone this past year which are attributed to this group and there were likely others we aren’t aware of here and in other areas where they sold drugs,” said Dwyer, who said the group has been under investigation since November amid the death of a 47-year-old Warren resident.
