Castaic Union School District (CUSD) was excited to welcome their Transitional Kindergarten-2nd grade students back to in-person instruction on Monday at Castaic Elementary, Live Oak Elementary, and Northlake Hills Elementary schools.
“It was wonderful to see the students with their new school shoes and backpacks as they arrived this morning,” said Superintendent Steve Doyle. “You could see the smiles behind their masks and hear the excitement in their voices.” As part of the continuing roll-out of the hybrid learning model, with students attending classes in-person two days and continuing virtual learning at home three days per week, CUSD will welcome their 3-4 grade students back to campus on March 1 and 5-6 grade students on March 8.

L.A. County Hits Threshold To Re-Open TK-6 In-Person Learning
Officials with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH) confirmed Tuesday that the county had hit the threshold necessary to re-open in-person instruction for elementary school students in grades TK-6.
Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis confirmed that Tuesday marked the fifth consecutive day in which the number of new daily COVID-19 case rate stood at 25 per 100,000, allowing students in grades TK-6 to re-open for in-person learning.
“I’m encouraged with the recent progress that the residents of Los Angeles County has made in combating the pandemic,” Solis said. “Our cases and hospitalizations continue to significantly drop since the winter surge.”

On Tuesday, officials with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH) announced that the county had met the state’s threshold for five consecutive days with daily COVID-19 case rates standing at 25 cases per 100,000.
Following this announcement, the superintendents for the Newhall School District (NSD), the Castaic Union School District (CUSD) and the Sulphur Springs Union School District (SSUSD) announced that they plan to begin phasing students back into the classroom starting Monday.
