A YOUTH who trashed dozens of cars on the forecourt of a car showroom has been sentenced after admitting his part in a ‘Mischief Night’ crime spree. The 17-year-old vandalised a total of 31 vehicles parked outside the Lightcliffe Skoda Warrington garage on Winwick Road in the early hours of Saturday, November 2 2019. He was part of a gang of teens who also ransacked a disabled boy’s home and destroyed his mobility equipment after robbing a girl and attacking a 14-year-old boy in Warrington town centre during a one-night rampage. Appearing before Warrington Magistrates Court on Thursday, January 14, the teen – from Warrington – was handed a three-month youth rehabilitation order after pleading guilty to two counts of causing criminal damage and one charge of theft.
Machine Mart by Google Maps A BURGLAR who broke into a DIY store twice in the space of four days and stole more than £1,000 of tools has been spared prison. Anthony McDonnell burgled the Machine Mart on Hawleys Lane in Dallam on October 9 last year and took DeWalt tools valued at £443.99 from inside. On October 13, he returned to the same shop and took another £646.79 of goods. The 37-year-old, of Bardsley Avenue in Dallam, had only just been released from a ‘lengthy’ custodial sentence at the time of the offences. McDonnell admitted two counts of burglary and was handed a 24-week imprisonment suspended for two years at Warrington Magistrates Court on Thursday, January 7.
Alan Reid was spotted carrying the weapon by CCTV operators on the evening of Saturday, January 2. Police carried out a search of the area and arrested the 49-year-old on Academy Place, off Academy Street. Reid, who is also known as Gypsy Joe, admitted possession of a bladed article in a public place and was handed six months behind bars at Warrington Magistrates Court on Monday, January 4. Magistrates also told the defendant, of Winmarleigh Street in the town centre, to pay a victim surcharge of £128 and ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the knife. He has a lengthy record of previous convictions, and was most recently jailed for eight months in August 2020 for a string of bicycle thefts from outside the Cockhedge Centre.
