I was proud to arrive in Nigeria and begin my third ambassadorial posting last November. 2020 will long be remembered as the year of the pandemic COVID-19, and we will look back and honor the lives of the more than 1.5 million people worldwide who lost their lives to this vicious pandemic. 2020 also marked 60 years of bilateral diplomatic relations between the United States and Nigeria, and much has been accomplished over the course of that time as democracy and a free and open business environment continue to grow. Allow me to provide a bit more detail about accomplishments achieved with our Nigerian partners.

Virginia added 4,048 COVID-19 cases Wednesday while the Lord Fairfax Health District added 178.
The district, which covers Winchester and the counties of Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah and Warren, has a seven-day average of 137 for daily new cases, up from 130 on Tuesday. Its positivity rate for PCR tests is 14.7%, an increase of 0.5% from Tuesday out of 121,464 PCR testing encounters.
Shenandoah had the highest number of new cases, recording 63. Frederick had 55, Winchester 21 and Page nine. Clarke and Warren each added 15 new cases, Clarke tying with its Dec. 10 record for its largest single-day increase in cases during the pandemic.
There were no new hospitalizations or deaths recorded in the district.
