MU Health reschedules postponed COVID-19 vaccinations for Thursday and Saturday
Several Missouri health departments and hospitals are preparing to administer extra vaccinations this week, the result of postponed appointments necessitated by last week s brutal winter weather.
MU Health Care on Tuesday received its shipment of 4,000 Moderna doses originally scheduled to arrive last week. The hospital announced that last week s postponed vaccination clinics have been rescheduled for Thursday and Saturday inside the Walsworth Family Columns Club at Faurot Field.
“Those who had appointments postponed last week are being contacted with new appointment information for this Thursday or Saturday,” said Brad Myers, MU Health Care director of pharmacy and laboratory services.
All COVID-19 vaccine appointments in Boone County have been booked for this week, according to a Tuesday update from the Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services Department, and the cupboard is bare.
âWe do not have any vaccine for first doses available at this time,â states the update, sent to people who have signed up to be notified about vaccine availability. âWe expect to get the vaccine next week and will move to Phase 1B, Tier 2 at that time.â
Phase 1B, tier 2, includes people over 65, as well as people whose health conditions increase their risk of severe illness.
