But many scientists are making the move and are finding corporate work to be just as rewarding. One of them is Anuraag Sarangi of medical communications firm Precisionscientia. After receiving a PhD in neuroscience from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2009, Anuraag Sarangi s career path led him from basic research to the biopharma business, where he now works in medical communications. Commercial construction industry veteran Lora Markem has joined Crain Construction as a project engineer. A Dickson County native, Markem (pictured) has 26 years of experience in construction project management and design development in Middle Tennessee. She holds a degree in architectural engineering technology from Nashville State Technical Institute (now known as Nashville State Community College). Markem’s experience includes design development, project management, preconstruction, property due diligence, permitting, subcontractor coordination, value engineering and owner/developer risk assessment and management. “Lora knows what it takes to get a project from conception to closeout,” Michael Rankin, president and CEO of Crain Construction, said in a release. “She brings vast and valuable experience to Crain, having worked on commercial and industrial projects on both the development and construction sides. We’re delighted to have her on our team.â€
