A “necessities drive” for charities is being organized for this week by a group of National Life employees, part of the company’s commitment to Do Good in the communities where it operates.
The drive has been organized by the Women’s Insight Network, which is a group of employees and agents that promotes women in leadership roles throughout the industry.
The group organized a drive in Montpelier, National Life’s hometown, that will collect bedding, linens, dishes, kitchen utensils and appliances, tools, cleaning supplies, shampoo and other items.
Everything that is collected will be donated to the Family Center of Washington County, which assists women and families who have been displaced, relocated or affected by severe or unusual circumstances.

Vermont Business Magazine National Life recently donated $35,000 to the Branches of Hope cancer patient fund at Central Vermont Medical Center in lieu of holding a Do Good Fest this year.
National Life staged the free annual music festival on its back lawn every year from 2014 to 2019, raising money for Branches of Hope through parking fees. The event was suspended last year and again this summer because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Cancer patients’ needs don’t go away just because there’s a pandemic,” said Mehran Assadi, Chairman, CEO and President of National Life. “So even though it’s too soon to gather on our lawn, it’s always the right time to support our neighbors. We’re humbled that we’re able to do so.”
