UPDATE 4pm: Lifeguards have decided to keep Kings Beach closed as dangerous surf conditions continue.
A Surf Life Saving Queensland spokeswoman said the popular beach remains closed as there is dangerous surf conditions have not improved throughout the day.
However, Mudjimba has now reopened after conditions improved.
Original: Two popular Sunshine Coast beaches have been closed due to rough conditions on Tuesday.
Surf Life Saving Queensland closed Kings Beach and Mudjimba about 8.30am due to dangerous surf conditions.

Subscriber only Volunteer lifesavers will soon wrap up patrols after enduring an epic season of big crowds and rescues across Coast beaches. Surf Life Saving Queensland s 2020/21 volunteer patrol season, which runs from September to May, ends on Monday. It was a busy season, with not only attendance but rescue figures up on last year. A total of 1,188,065 people visited Coast beaches this season, with lifesavers making 334 rescues. That s 124,423 more visitors and 40 more rescues than the 2019-20 season. SLSQ Sunshine Coast regional operations manager Aaron Purchase said it had been an extremely busy season across all Queensland beaches. Our lifesavers have done a remarkable job over the past nine months keeping beachgoers safe, he said.
Surf Life Saving Queensland sport manager Stuart Hogben said there would be plenty of action to enjoy. It s one of those ones where you re looking at some of the best lifesavers around the country, he said. When you look at the work that goes into being at this level and the amount of training they do, crowds will see some wonderful athletes down here on show. And, looking at the conditions there will be some great racing. He said there would be current and ex Olympians running around in swim, surf and ski races. It s not just lifesavers but across the board some top class athletes.
