The upcoming
2021 BMW X3 facelift has leaked, ahead of its full unveiling expected in the next two months.
A sole image published on the homepage of BMW s Spanish website appears to show the updated X3 free of camouflage, with changes visible in the low-resolution view shown including taller front-side air intakes, slimmer LED headlights, revised kidney grilles, and a subtly-tweaked tail-light signature.
Blue M-branded brake calipers and an M badge on the front quarter confirm we re looking at an M Sport package-equipped model – with the large alloy wheels (similar in design to the current X3 M40i) and what appears to be a studded bronze grille pattern suggest this

Known in BMW-speak as an LCI (Life Cycle Impulse), the X5 G05 facelift is expected to arrive in the first half of 2022, followed by its bonkers M version a few months later.
The current BMW X5 G05 is based on the carmaker’s CLAR (Cluster Architecture) platform, shared with other models with longitudinally placed engines like the BMW 3 Series, 5 Series and 7 Series, which means that it’s packed with almost all the latest technology of the brand.
At launch it was the first X5 ever to finally get features like a four-corner air suspension, or a much-improved plug-in hybrid version that can actually go head-to-head with its rivals.

Available as a coupe, a convertible, and even as a swoopy sedan that’s more like a four-door coupe, the modern iteration of the BMW 8 Series lineup is mostly a re-marketed 6 Series, which is why it doesn’t excel in passenger space compared to a 4 Series, for example.
What it does excel compared to a 4 Series, though, is the use of a more traditional deign language, especially when it comes to older BMWs that don’t have a giant kidney grille throning at the front of the car.

The biggest change that came with the facelift is the powertrain. The new 5 is a hybrid, as denoted by the e in its name. The hybrid system can be broken down into two parts. The first is the 2.0 liter B48 TwinPower Turbo engine, making 184Hp. The other is an 80 kW/109Hp electric drive unit mounted in the rear, where the spare tire would be. Combined, the motors deliver a total of 293 Hp and 420 nm of torque, all of it sent to the rear wheel through an 8-speed Steptronic gearbox. In addition to the enormous torque, BMW claims a combined fuel consumption figure of 1.7–1.8 liter per 100/km, making it the most economical of all the engines offered in the 5 series.
